What’s best than a last minute pie to use some leftovers? Honestly I’ve never wanted to make the pie crust myself because I’ve always thought it was a waste of time.
Now that I found the best pie crust recipe the waste of time AND MONEY would be to buy it. Plus, I’ve looked up the ingredients the other day and I really don’t want to buy the industrial one anymore.
Positive: super easy (2 basic ingredients), super quick (5 min to prepare, no resting time) and tasty enough.
Negative: I’d give 4 stars out of 5 because it doesn’t have that buttery taste but, let’s say it makes it healthier at least.
- 200 g flour
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 10 cl of lukewarm water
- 1 pinch of salt
In a jar mix flour with a good pinch of salt. Add oil and water and mix well with a spoon and finish kneading with your hand to obtain a soft dough.
And that’s it.
Next, you sprinkle some flour on a flat and clean surface and you roll out your pie crust. The indicated quantities are perfect for 2 small pies (22 cm). I bake mines in exactly 30 minutes in preheated oven at 180°C.
My advice: It’s perfect for a last minute dinner. Time to prepare the rest of the ingredients, 30 min in oven and it’s ready! If you’re interested, here are a few pies that I made:
- [the one in the picture] oyster mushroom (cooked with onions and garlic) + egg mixture (2 eggs, a dash of milk, seasoning) + topped with cheddar cheese
- ham, cheddar, thinly cut raw potatoes, leek (cooked and seasoned)
- mustard, ham, mozzarella, thinly cut raw potatoes, parmesan cheese
